(Retrived blog from Saturday, 28 January 2012) White Gloves, White Elephant Bingo!

Ah, what a good time we had at the latest AFSC luncheon! We donned our gloves and adorned our heads with hats or with the latest fashion – a stunning “fascinator” and came waltzing into the Naja Ball Room. Who knew turning back time to the “military of yesterday” could be so glamorous, so appealing and such fun!
No white gloves but anyhow gloves and a hat :=)

Two of my friends, and in my opinion, looking fabulous!

This afternoon we got a special treat....................,
the presence of GENERAL James D. Thurman, Commander UNC/CFC/USFK. He graciously gave up his day off to spend time with us serving as our White Elephant BINGO CALLER. What an honor! ( …if I had only won…) He concluded our luncheon with inspiring words, thanking us for our contributions and support to the community.
I 16…..B3…..G40 ……BINGO!!

We had a great time with the White Elephant Exchange (everybody who came with an anonymous nicely wrapped present could participate).
We were asked to stand in a large circle, with a white elephant in our hand, then we were treated to an original, clever story written and read by AFSC spouse Karen Grady. We had to carefully listen to her use of the words left or right as she read her tale. We then passed our wrapped white elephant in the direction she read, “….Rebecca LEFT her papers in the car and went RIGHT back to pick them up. Anja LEFT home early which was the RIGHT thing to do as she was to meet the RIGHT contact…… and so the story went RIGHT on….right, left… right, right, right, right. At the conclusion of the story, where the white elephant ended, it was to be kept and unwrapped.
