Finding our way around in Gangnam!

Invited by friends to go to their favorite restaurant, Mercado situated in .... yes.....Gangnam!

We’ve now been living for a week in the Gangnam District (Hangul: 강남구) which is one of the 25 gu (local government districts) making up the city of Seoul. Gangnam  literally means "South of the (Han) River" and is the third largest district in the city of Seoul, covering an area of 39,5 square kilometers, and that fact gives us plenty of walking space.

To give you a bit more curiosa than the fact that South Korean entertainer Psy last year had a mega hit with his song “Gangnam Style” with his music video being shot in this area, I can also tell you that several subway stations in Gangnam area were used as filming locations for the 2012 Hollywood film “The Bourne Legacy”.

We see many high rise in glass but also the normal type of compact living apartment buildings. The communication is close by our hotel and I spend plenty of time in the subway system…..
We have over 520 channels on the television…. However, only one we can understand…..

Teheran Road, a 3.7km long street with a heavy concentration of office buildings and some of them you can see below. However, there are many apartment building built in the 60´s and they look quite different.

Above: View from our hotell.

Finding our way in the subway has been lifted to a new dimension. Specificly Gangnam station is a challenge since it's the busiest station in Seoul.

Line 2 is called: The Outer Circle Line and convinient because it crosses many other lines. But the exiting thing was to find the nearest gate to get out to the apartment! 12 gates spead over 1,5 kilometers with a busy underground, no very busy due to the fact that there´s a massive shopping center which makes it challanging to find your way! And expensive as well for you see so many fun things......

An other part of Seoul has been giving us long walks in order to see what this part of town looks like and has to offer.
